My Lazy Ass

So Hello to all three of you who have visited my little blog.......As you can all see, I suck at keeping things updated. It is now the end of February, and not only have I still not posted those pics from Utah, the cd isn't finished either.........and I call myself a professional?
Ok so here's the dealio.....the cd is being mastered as I type. A very cool guy by the name of Chris Scott is doing the mastering in his newly renovated Scream Along Songs studio. I met Chris a few years ago when I was playing loud, obnoxious music with a former band, and he was recording another loud, obnoxious band that we did several shows with. After running into one another in a local music forum, I sent him an mp3 of some of the new recordings, and he said he would love to give it that "different ear". If all works out we should have a release before summer. I have decided not to say when it is going to be released, simply due to the fact that everytime I've set a date, that date has come and passed, and still no release. I am at the point that it will be released when it is supposed to be, and not before nor after.

In other news, I have decided to relocate. I will be hiding out in a little town, not far from where I grew up. I will still be spending some time in Albuquerque, but will be spending most of my time with my kids. (Possibly more to post on the move in a later entry) Albuquerque has been good to me, but I need to be in a calmer place at the time. In any case, that all happens within the next few weeks.

Can't seem to get the pics posted, must be that I'm a dumbass. Maybe next time.

Surviving Turkey Day weekend

Greetings from the desert once again......I had another typical T-day in NM.....Spent hours with relatives that just couldn't understand why I hadn't gotten a hair-cut.....it is amazing how after having been married for 13 years (a record in my family), having three, well behaved kids, and starting to actually get some success with my music, the only thing my grandmother is worried about is when I'm going to cut my hair. I guess some things will never change.....
I once again managed to fuck up turkey day by having a little too much to drink Thurs. Night. For those of you who don't know, I am not a drinker. Usually a couple of beers gets me ready for night night. Any more than that and I find myself worshiping at the porcelain alter. Yes, I am a CHEAP date. In any case, I somehow managed to survive the WRATH OF WIFE, only losing some of the skin off of my ass. Which may sound funny to some of you, but you try to drive 300 miles with part of your ass still sitting where you left from. The wounds are healing nicely, thank you very much.
Once I made it back into the Duke City, it was back to work. We (the band) played a short, mellow set at a place called the Launchpad for the Grandma's Rocks Showcase. This little showcase was set up by one of the employees at Grandma's Music for some of the bands whose members work at said store. The manager for the Drum Dept. just happens to play drums with me most of the time, so we found ourselves in the midst of some of Albuquerque's loudest metal bands. We played a less than stellar set to an audience that was actually receptive, which is a rarity when a band like ours is "opening" for the local head-bangers ball. Most of the comments that we got afterward, were very positive.....You know the "you guys are fucking awesome!" and "Wow, I never would have guessed that you guys were locals" My favorite was "It takes a lot of balls for you guys to pull that kind of set off in this kind of crowd"
After our set, we settled in for the rest of the party. It seemed like every time I turned around there was another beer for me to drink, or another shot-o-jack for me to intake. I was sooooooo sloshed that I had to check twice when I saw those two girls making out upstairs.(it was later confirmed that yes they were girls) I lost one of my little secret ingredient boxes up there as well. I guess the janitor will get a little tip for his effort. I did find my way safely home around 1 or 2, and much to my surprise, did not have to do any worshipping at the alter mentioned before.
I guess that is all for now. Still need to post those Utah pics, but seem to have misplaced the CD. I'm sure it will pop up, once I clean my office.

Greetings from the NM desert

Hello all, this is Jasper Brown. I am a singer/songwriter from NM. I was turned onto this site by a little guy named Woody Talk, who is a representative of Little Kiss records here in Albuquerque. He has a blog here for the band El Paso Eye Patch, which everyone should go and check out. This will pretty much be the spot where I post upcoming shows and the various mis-adventures as experienced by me and the band.
So.......where to start? My first cd will be released on Little Kiss records in February of 2005. It was recorded at the wonderful Little Kiss studios in Albuquerque, NM and contains some of the best musicians in the local area. With drums provided by, Rhian Martino, Jeffrey Richards, Heath Dauberman, and Dan Camera. Guitar players such as Jeffrey Richards, Dave Hedmen, and myself. On bass John Rutledge, Jeffrey (yes he's everywhere) Richards, and myself. Jeffery also found time to share a some mandolin duties with long time friend Dave Noel. We had keyboards played by The Mancle Anderson, and harmonica played by Jack Thompson. The cd is a collection of nine songs, written through out my time as a songwriter, including the first song that I ever wrote, which is titled "Cherished Lies". It will be available at www.littlekissrecords.com in February.
That is all for now. I will post some of the pictures of our trip to Salt Lake City, UT when they are available.
